Top Holiday Nail Polishes

Hey Guys!,

I thought I would share with you a few of my favorite nail polishes for the Holidays. Lets get started.
Sonia Kashuk Emerald City. Perfect dark green color.

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in brick wall. A great deep red color.
ELF  Red Velvet. A darker red shade with tons of shimmer in it.
Maybelline color show in porcelain party. A beautiful stark white. Applies really easily.
Wet n' Wild Spoiled in I have no reception.  This beautiful silver glitter polish is perfect for making an accent nail pop. Or adding sparkle to your nail look.
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Golden-I. Gorgeous shimmery gold shade.
Nicole by OPI Kardashian Kollection Rainbow in the S-Kylie. Multicolored glitter polish with different sized glitter. It reminds of confetti, I think it will be perfect for New Years.

MY ADVENTURES IN NAIL POLISH

hi. pepp here. ::gasp:: shocking i know. ive been seriously m.i.a. but with summer coming ill have a lot more free time so youll be hearing from me a lot more. (im sorry ahead of time.) anywho. for my first post in a crazy long time i wanted to talk about of my favorite things in the whole wide world. nail polish. i love getting manicures but they chip so easy and i really dont want to get one every week (if you havent noticed by now im cheap) and while gel manicures last much longer they destroy your nails because they have to file your nails so thin and you get that weird ridge. so ive been doing it at home and one of my all time favorite products is the Sally Hansen Salon Effects nail polish strips. i love polish strips because when trying to do my own manicure it tends to look like a five year old painted my right hand and i always smudge. ive tried all of the nail polish strips and sallys is by far my favorite. its relatively easy when you get the hang of it and ive had it last up to two and a half weeks which i consider a huge win.
i know i know nail polish strips have been around for awhile so its not exactly breaking news but my excitement today is from finding the new rock of ages line in my local drugstore. specifically “beat you to it!”, a bright super-sparkley kelly green. (im obsessed. i love green. im staring at my nails. its a problem.)
i definitely recommend all of sallys line of polish strips. each box comes with the polish strips, a small file, a stick thingy and directions. its important to follow the directions but i have a few tips that will save you time, money and make them last longer.
first off dont open both packages of the nail strips, my father actually figured out that you could actually get two uses. yes my father. one day when i was visiting him and doing my nails he came up with the idea to use both sides of the strip because in the method that the directions tells you would waste a lot. if you are using for the first time go slow. remove the strip from both the plastic and the paper. now remove the little holder very carefully not the rip the bottom and use the one side. carefully cut or pull the bottom half off making sure not to warp or rip it. then use the other side on the other hand.
you dont need to go as crazy with that weird stick as the directions tell you. just rub firmly with your fingers and it should stay perfectly. do not rub until you are sure it is in the spot you want or else you are out of luck because it is not going anywhere. to finish it off cover with a strong topcoat i recommend the new revlon gel kind. once that dries you are set. admire away. just every few days reapply the top coat.
cheap. long lasting. perfect.
ta ta for now.

Grey Ombre Nails

For this simple nail look I used three main colors:a basic black, sally hansen insta-dri in whirlwind wind as well as slick slate. For the in between colors I just mixed some of the grey color with the white and some black with the grey. I think its a simple way to make your nails pop!

FAVORITE NAIL POLISH TRENDS FOR SPRING/SUMMER

Happy Spring everyone!

ORANGES/CORALS:
This is a great value set for $5 from eyes lips face.
This is a great and affordable nail polish from Wet and Wild named “let’s get sushi”, I found this polish at CVS pharmacy.
PASTELS:
I love mint and this essie polish in “mint candy apple” is beautiful.
These lilac purple options are also great.
ACCENT NAILS:
I love the way this style looks. Check out a picture from Makeup by TiffanyD’s site:
I love to experiment with my nail polish because it is an easy way to add some color without being overwhelming.

BETSEY JOHNSON INSPIRED NAILS

For Christmas I got a beautiful Betsey Johnson bracelet. I decided to make a nail look inspired by the bracelet here are a couple of pictures:
You can’t really tell in the picture but the dark grey color has tons of shimmer in it.
Products used:
ELF’s metal madness, which is part of a nail polish set for $5
And on the accent fingers: Rimmel French manicure pro in #130 French Lingerie

"truc du jour: sparkly nail polish looks fresher longer because of the reflection of the light makes chips less noticeable. so if your office/school/life is liberal like mine give it a go i recommend essie luxeffects in a cut above super cute pink sparkle that is unexpected.

MINI TARGET HAUL

Last night I was shopping at Target and I picked up a few beauty items I want to share with you guys.
First up is Dove’s damage therapy daily moisturizer conditioner which was a deluxe package including a big 25.4oz bottle as well as a bonus 8oz bottle all for $4!! Score! I love this stuff since my hair is color treated and it has an amazing scent.
Next up I really needed a new eyelash curler so I picked up one from elf (eyes lips face) for $1. Haven’t tried this one out yet
While I was in the elf section I decided to pick up their lengthening and volumizing mascara from the studio line for $3. I have been impressed with their products lately and I’m hoping this one doesn’t disappoint.
Also in the elf department I grabbed their nail polish remover pads for $1. I did not have very high hopes for these but I was pleasantly surprised! It has a citrus smell and not a strong nail polish remover scent. One little pad took just about all my nail polish off. I was shocked. Definitely need to pick up more of these, and I want to try out their eye makeup remover pads which are also $1
Next stop was the Rimmel Section. I found a beautiful baby pink nail polish. Its number 130 french lingerie from the french manicure pro line. Its a very pretty color and unlike most cream or light pink colors it doesn’t require many coats which i find leaves nails with that tacky feeling that always smudges. I can’t remember the price exactly but I believe it was around $4.
Last but certainly not least I found beautiful Sonia Kashuk false eyelashes. They look amazing in the packaging so I hope they look amazing on! They also include glue and were $5.19.
**little update** The Sonia Kashuk lashes have a thick band which makes them less flexible and definitely a bit more difficult to apply. If you are not really comfortable with lashes I don’t recommend  these, I would use ardell half lashes to get started. Also I am not a huge fan of the glue. So while they look beautiful in the packaging I’ll probably skip these next time.
Hope you guys enjoyed this little haul. Currently I am in the process of reviewing Maybelline’s Baby Lips in #10 peppermint, I’m waiting the full four weeks it suggests to see if there are any changes so stay tuned for that.

Saving your polish!

Recently I was running low on one of my favorite polishes. MAC’s Vintage Vamp

a beautiful deep wine color. That I have had for a couple of years. It was getting to the point where it became clumpy and was not easy to apply. I really loved the color and didn’t want to go buy another one because there was still a good amount of polish left. So I added some basic clear nail polish and bam! My vintage vamp had been re-vamped! (pardon the cheesy pun) Its a quick and simple fix to extend the life of your nail polishes.
