Favorite Drugstore Face Products

Hey guys! I’ve been wanting to do a drugstore post for a while now. I love drugstore makeup and most of my collection is filled with it. I quickly realized I had a lot of favorites and too many to limit to 10! So I decided I would include all of my favorites, by categories. First we will start with face products!

Foundation:

Revlon Colorstay whipped foundation. I love this product, it definitely lives up to its name and will last all day. I am in the color 200 sand beige. I prefer the whipped formula because my skin tends to be dry and I feel this is more moisturizing. This product sells for around $13.

ELF Flawless finish foundation. This has been a favorite of mine for a while. The color and coverage are great. I will say its not the best long lasting foundation, but for everyday this is a go to. I am in the shade sand. You can find this at target or eyeslipsface.com for $6.

Concealer:

I don’t use concealer that often, but if I really need to cover something I reach for Hard Candy’s glamoflauge. This is a heavy duty concealer, a little goes a long way. If applied to heavy it can tend to look cakey. I am in the shade light, as far as I know there are only a couple of shade options. You can find this product at Walmart for $6.

Bronzer:

Elf healthy glow bronzing powder in sunkissed.  I love this stuff. It is not too dark and no orangey undertones. A really nice bronze color with a hint of shimmer, for a perfect glow. The best part its only $1.

NYC smooth skin bronzing powder in sunny. This bronzer is great because it is completely matte. Perfect for contouring. Generally retails for $2-3.

Highlight:

Hard Candy blush crush baked blush, honeymoon (127). Even though this is a blush I love using it as a highlight. It reminds me of MAC’s mineralized skin finish powders. Can be found at Walmart for around $6-7.

Sometimes for a matte highlight I will use NYX jumbo eye pencil in milk. I love using this if I am going for a strong highlight and contour. $4-5

Elf shimmering facial whip in lilac petal. This products creates a beautiful glow, but be careful not to use too much product, I made that mistake and looked like Edward from Twilight lol. $1

Blush:

Wet n Wild blush in pearlescent pink. A really beautiful peachy pink color with a little bit of shimmer. $2-3

Well those are all my favorite drugstore face products, stay tuned for my favorite drugstore eye and lip products! :)

REVLON COLORSTAY WHIPPED FOUNDATION/ RIMMEL CLEAN FINISH FOUNDATION REVIEW

Hey guys!

I have two foundation reviews for you guys. I recently ran out of my ELF flawless finish foudnation from the studio line which I love! I honestly like it just as much if not more than the makeup forever hd foundation and its a fraction of the cost.
So I decided to try out something new. I picked up the Rimmel Clean Finish Foundation. I saw a couple of people on youtube talk about it and thought I would try it out.
I chose the shade sand because that is the name and similar color to the one I use from Elf. The Pros for this foundation are the packaging. It comes with a little spatula which is pretty cool and something I’ve never seen before. One I first applied it, it felt hydrating on my skin and very smooth. However within an hour of application the color oxidized and turned an orangey color. I noticed some areas looked a bit cakey. I gave this product a couple of tries but honestly I couldn’t deal with the way the color would change. I ended up returning it so unfortunately I don’t have any swatches of it.
When I returned it I decided to try out the Revlon Colorstay whipped foundation especially since it was on sale. I picked up the shade 200 sand beige.
I took those pictures without flash so you can see the true color. It is hard to find your shade because the glass is so thick the colors look pretty similar. I think I ended up with the right shade, I could probably go down a shade for winter. Anyway so far I love this foundation. It feels great on the skin and is easy to apply. I started out with a brush but found it was easier just to use my fingers. The consistency is great its not too liquidy but its not a mousse either. I didn’t need a lot to do an entire face application. I actually just used what was on the plastic cover and didn’t even use what was in the jar. I know the liquid version dries fast and can be hard to work with, but the whipped version is definitely easier and takes a little longer to dry and settle into the skin. I haven’t worn it for 24hrs and I don’t think I ever will haha, but so far so good.
Thats all for now, I’ll have a mini haul up soon!

May Favorites

1. EOS lip balm sweet mint, love this stuff, I keep it in my bag at all times.
2. elf eyelid primer, I find that this $1 primer is a dupe for some of the more expensive eyelid primers out there.
3. Naked palettes, this month I’ve pretty much only used these two palettes. If you are a neutral eye fan, these palettes are worth the money.
4. elf flat liner brush, this brush was included in my Elf mystery bag and I am so glad that it was. Its great for lining your eyes and water line..
5. too faced candleight glow highlight, this highlight is perfect for the warmer months it helps me to achieve a nice summer glow.
6. too faced chocolate soleil, this bronzer is great for a sunkissed look plus it smells like chocolate ;)
7. Garnier fructis sleek and shine intensely smooth leave in conditioner, this is probably my most favorite, favorite, if that makes sense. After I get out of the shower I run this product through my hair and it leaves my hair silky smooth. If your hair is damaged I suggest picking this up.
8. Makeup forever hd foundation, I caved I finally got it. It took me a minute to get used to, it dries fast so you have to work quickly. I put it in my favorites because I have mainly been using it however I’m not sure if I would re-purchase it. I’ll keep you guys updated, if you want a full review on it let me know. I also have the primer and powder.
Those are all my favorites for the month, but I also thought I’d included a product I really did not enjoy.
Product I regret:
tresemme split end remedy leave in conditioner. I found this made my hair feel even more dry and it looked slimy and gross. I really did not enjoy this, maybe I did not use it properly but it just did not work for me. Let me know if you have tried it.

ELF HAUL + $20 MYSTERY BAG

On May 1st and 2nd ELF was having a promotion, when you spend $20 you received a free $20 value mystery bag. I’ve never ordered a mystery bag before and I was so excited. I really love ELF I think they are a great company especially if you are just starting out. Also they are affordable and cruelty free! I believe they also have some vegan items as well. So lets get started!

First lets start with what I ordered:
1. Flawless finish foundation in the shade sand. I absolutely love this foundation and have talked about it a couple of times on here so I won’t go into great detail, but here is my review if you are interested.
2. Next I ordered a new product from ELF, the lip exfoliator. I’ve used this once already and it definitely made my lips more smooth. Make sure to follow the directions and dampen your lips before using.
3. OF course I had to order a backup of my FAVORITE liquid eyeliner. I love ELF’s eyeliner so much! The brush allows for the most precise line and the best part is it only costs a dollar.
4. Next I ordered the stipple brush from the studio line. I don’t own a stipple brush and I was very curious. I used it only once  to apply my foundation so I’m still not sure how I feel about it, since I am still really addicted to my beauty blender.
5. I also ordered the corrective concealer palette. It comes with four different colors. I really enjoy this product, I like using the green shade to diminish redness. My only complaint is that I don’t really care for the brush applicator, I prefer to use concealer brush from the studio line.
6. I really wanted a fun lipgloss in a shade that I don’t own. So the glossy gloss funky fuchsia was perfect. It is a really vibrant color but it goes on sheer for a more natural look, or easily buildable for a bold look. I really enjoy the glossy glosses from ELF, they are moisiturizing and don’t have any weird smell and the shades are beautiful.
7. Lastly I ordered the Dramatic lash kit. I really enjoy the natural lash kits, but I watched a video on youtube from Steph of SMLX0  and she said the dramatic kit from ELF is one of her favorites, so I wanted to give them a try. I haven’t worn them yet, so I’ll keep ya posted.
Those are the items I ordered myself, now on to the mystery bag!!
1. The 32 piece eyeshadow palette in warm! I was so happy to see this because I had my eye on it, but I’ve been trying not to buy eyeshadow for a while, since I already have so many palettes. I’m so glad they sent this to me the colors are beautiful and perfect for spring/summer.
2. Next up is the # piece eye set. Which comes with two primers one in champagne and one in nude as well as a lengthening and defining mascara. I haven’t tried the primers yet, but the mascara is great! It doesn’t make my lashes clump at all.
3. Mineral lip gloss in crystal clear. Surprisingly I don’t own a clear gloss so this is great. Very hydrating.
4. They also sent me a brush! It is the flat eyeliner brush from the mineral line. You can never have too many brushes!
5. Next they sent me a liquid eyeliner in ash a cool grey color. Something I probably wouldn’t order myself but is nice to have in my collection.
6. The last thing they sent me was a studio matte eye shadow in burnt brown. This color is gorgeous!! A perfect neutral shade! I can’t wait to wear it.

ELF HAUL

I ordered a few things from ELF last week and I wanted to share them.
The first thing I ordered was the flawless finish foundation in sand. Which I have written about on here before. I absolutely love this foundation and have used it so much I needed to order another one. I tried using a maybelline foundation but its just not the same. I also love that it only costs $6.
Next I really wanted to try the HD powder.
I have used it a couple of times already and I love it. After I apply my foundation I use this powder to set everything and it gives my face a great matte finish.
I ordered a couple of lip glosses. The first was the pink candy glossy gloss.
This gloss is a beautiful shade of pink. It can be a little too pink for me though so I usually mix it with some other colors.
The other glossy gloss I purchased is very similar but its more natural. Sweet Salmon:
They look almost identical in these pictures so I will have to upload a swatch picture so you can see the difference. I like using this color with the revlon lip butter creme brulee the two mixed with a little pink candy are almost a dupe for nars turkish delight. Which I have yet to find the perfect dupe of. A lot of people have recommended bonne belle’s strawberry parfait. Besides the color of the glosses, they are very moisturizing and don’t have a strong scent to them.
I went ahead and ordered a brush cleaner as well. It gets the job done and I have no complaints so far.
I needed a new eyeliner and ordered the waterproof eyeliner pen. It only costs a dollar so what the heck.
I didn’t expect much from this product being that it felt so lightweight like a marker and only costs a buck. HOWEVER ELF never ceases to amaze me. I fell in love with this product I get a great thin line that can easily be built upon. And the color pay off is great.  I could not be more please with the product.
Finally I ordered some eyelashes for Pepp. I haven’t given them to her yet so once I do she will have to try them out and give a review. This is what they look like, they are the hollywood lashes:

I’M IN LOVE WITH A LITTLE PINK SPONGE!

As promised I am going to give you my first impressions of the beauty blender. For a quick side note I ordered a two pack from amazon for $18 typically for two beauty blenders its around $40, so I thought I got a deal. Anyway this is what they looked like when I received them:
As advised I used mine damp. There is an instructional video on beautyblender.net and they also come with an instruction card. Just so you guys can see the difference here is one dry beauty blender and one damp one:
They expand when they are wet and become even softer.
Okay so here are my thoughts and judging by the title of this post I’m sure you already know. I love them!! They make application so much easier I don’t worry about those streaky lines some brushes can cause. I find that it covers evenly and is also quick in terms of application.
My only negatives about the product is I wish it was a bit cheaper because eventually I will need new ones. Also cleaning them isn’t the easiest task. I can tell the sponge is already stained in some spots, but maybe that is because I did not buy their cleanser. I’m not sure.
I will let you guys know if anything changes as I use this product! Overall I’m glad I purchased them.
Here are a couple of pictures of the finished look:

Love my beauty blenders!

MAKEUP SPONGES!

Today I caved in and ordered the Beauty blender. I have been so hesitant about purchasing this item because I feel like $20 is a lot for a makeup sponge. However I keep hearing amazing things about it in the beauty community.
All the reviews I have read or watched on YT have expressed their love for this product and how it gives you a flawless finish.
I know I am late on the beauty blender bandwagon but once I receive mine (which should be wed.) I will let you know my thoughts. If you want to check out this product for yourself it is available at sephora but I think it is online only. I ordered mine off of amazon for a little cheaper.
If you think I’m crazy and want a cheaper alternative there is Sonia Kashuk’s sponge which is $9.99 at Target.
I have not tried Sonia’s version so I cannot really tell you if its a dupe or worth splurging on the beauty blender but here is a video from makeupgeek that discusses the two sponges:
Hope this helps and I’ll be sure to give you my first impression and thoughts when I get mine!
